Tyrone is one of the contenders for the kindest person ever to appear on the Street. (It would be interesting to hear who other people would put forward for such a title.) That Tyrone is such a good person makes us feel extra protective of him and perhaps even more hostile to Kirsty. True, she is deeply apologetic, but gradually and most intriguingly, the real Kirsty is being revealed. After the truce with Tina, perhaps we believed that things would improve and that Tyrone would be happy, something he thoroughly deserves after the Molly and Kevin affair.
Some fine acting tonight from Maria and Kirsty. Fairly innocent comments though may well come back to bite Maria as she celebrates her birthday and winks at Tyrone, referring to their relationship of many years ago. Kirsty is clocking all this and though she controls herself, her fine acting and subtle facial expressions, reveal that she is struggling and that her apologies to Tyrone will be short-lived. She is a woman on the edge. A brilliant depiction of an individual with a serious personality disorder. Again the Street deals with a psychiatric problem with great bravery.

Well said, Ruth. I think Natalie Gumede as Kirsty is proving a wonderful actress and even though she's evil (poor Tyrone!) I do feel a certain sympathy for her because clearly she's disturbed and there's much more to come from her with her background being revealed, etc.

Interesting blog. What struck me was how good Maria was when I've always thought of the actress as being quite mediocre. I had put her in the same category as Kym Marsh but she's much better. Just shows you, you have to have the script before you can shine.
I can't count how many times I've seen women smack their boyfriends/husbands in public..a whack here and there..a punch in the arm..a vile coment in public and nobody even blinks. Turn the tables and the dude would be in jail on assault chgs.A guy I work with comes in black and blue..puffed out lips..says he got in a fight or fell down etc. sure.
Anyway, I hope with storyline does justice to Tyrone and he gives Kirsty the boot. With her being pregnant it's going to be difficult. I can see where she accuses him of battery and he's arrested. Very well played out episide by both.
Oh..and by the way, whoever is in charge of Eileen's wardrobe..keep it up. She looked fabulous in that bright white blouse and turquoise sweater...IMO.
Its good that finally Corrie makes this a serious issue, men getting slapped and hit is always used for comical uses. Like when Deirdre punched Lewis, and Kylie hit David in the pub the other week, I bet people never batted an eyelid as men getting punched is alright apparently. Although if David had hit Kylie for her behaviour he would be the villain. Thats why I roll my eyes at comments like men should hit back, but as Tyrone said, they would be seen as the wife beater and the woman the victim.
Nathalie Gumede is indeed doing a fine job and this will be an interesting one to follow with lots of issues to think through. And Alan Halsall has really going from strength to strength over the last year and a half or so.
A propos Tyrone being one of the kindest characters ever to appear on Corrie, I would put forward Lloyd as a second contender. Great that he'll be back soon. He has a good heart too.
Yes, top acting from Natalie Gumede. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. I did actually think of this storyline when Kylie hit David in the bistro. I thought, what would happen if he did that to her. He'd be in serious trouble, whereas she can really whack him one and no-one says anything.
