Coronation Streer's new producer Stuart Blackburn starts work next week. He takes up his new role on Monday January 7.
As far as I know, but do please correct me if this is wrong, I think Corrie works 4-6 weeks in advance as far as storylines we seen on screen. If that's the case, then we should start seeing the first of the new producer's work in Coronation Street from mid-February onwards.
Stuarat Blackburn says: "Coronation Street... has a
place in my heart, as I believe passionately in storytelling, and
although I recognise it's a massive responsibility, I have the best job
in the world."
Let's hope he brings our favourite soap back to where it belongs - top of the ratings, winning best soap awards - but most importantly, putting a smile on our faces and a warm glow in our hearts.

Normally, the storylining is like six months in advance.
Unfortunately he won't be able to save the Street from the mess he inherited from Collinson, I just don't see much of a future for the Street.
Yes, I think it will be some time yet before his influence will really be felt since even if he changes future storyline direction, we likely won't see it until spring. But i have hopes that his changes will turn out to be good ones. Gotta give the man a chance!
Producers do still have some power to change short term decisions by the past producer though, for example, Tony Wood axed Janice, then Steve Frost took over and wanted to keep Janice on, so they storyline was quickly rewritten.
From what I've seen of Stuart's work, I do think he's suited more to the streets of Corrie than the dales of Emmerdale
I just hope he brings character driven plots back and clears out some of the dead wood, and most importantly the miserable characters, I'm so fed up of seeing glum faces on the cobbles- Micky
But what is he going to do with all the babies?
There are too many now and with another one hundred or so that Collinson has already committed to bringing in it will be impossible to write them out or just change the storylines and forget they are coming.
Whatever he does has to be better. It is impossible for him to do any worse than Collinson. By this point we are so accustomed to wild twists and turns that he can u-turn any number of stprylines and we will understand it is corrective surgery. Sooner the better.
I think regardless of timescales we have to see the arrival of a new producer as a positive thing. Let's give Mr B a fair chance :)
Please no more babies! There are too many now. We never, ever see Jack (Kevin must have the best babysitter in the world he is constantly propping up the bar in the Rovers)we never see Hope or Amy either. I really hope the new producer can kick some life into the show and for God's sake wrap up the Kirsty Tyronne story by having Kirsty receive the punishment she so richly deserves!
It's testament to how bad Collinson has been that everyone is welcoming this change. New Producers can make things worse, but apparently no-one thinks anyone can be worse than Collinson.
Hopefully Mr Blackburn will be inviting some of the writers into his office on Monday for a firing.
Naturally, we're going to hear from tptb how sad they are to see PC go etc etc, but I bet they've never been so glad to see the back of a producer. After all, his contract was for another six months, wasn't it? Sounds like they kicked him upstairs. Guess the new producer will talk about getting back to basics. Hopefully, several contracts will not be renewed, and competent (female) writers will be engaged so we can have some female friendships onscreen. Definitely need to put an end to the constant affairs and pregnancies.
corrie has 12 month future story planning meetings where they map out who they want to keep and who they want to lose. They then have writers conference meetings every 3 weeks to map out the next batch of storylines and review the previous 3 weeks. They then shoot 3 weeks worth of eps out of order. EG If theres scenes with Steve & Michelle in their flat they would film 3 weeks of flat scenes in one day.
Whilst Collinson could have already mapped out the next 12 months it is just as easy to change things after 3 weeks. I would like to see Mr Blackburn address the Annie Walker owning the rovers stuff up, show Marcus as unable to perform in the bedroom dept to show he is still gay and not just changed sexuality to suit the storyline. I really like Gloria and Stella (Am I the only one?) but I cannot take to Mandy. She is just not a good actor and definately not good enough to be working at the rovers.
